Thank Councilmembers for standing up for D.C.
Councilmembers wrote a terrific op-ed that explains why the Public Service Commission should reject Exelon’s attempt to take over Pepco.
They write: QUOTE FROM PIECE
It is important we thank these Councilmembers for opposing the merger. It will encourage them to make sure that D.C. does not settle for a bad deal. The Public Service Commission should be allowed to rule on the merits of the merger. This decision is too important for a back-door deal.
The proposed merger is not in the interest of D.C. residents. It threatens to raise our rates, cut good D.C. jobs and worsen our electric service. Thousands of D.C. residents have written to the PSC in opposition to the merger. A majority of the city’s Advisory Neighborhood Commissions have expressed opposition. The Office of People’s Council and the D.C. Attorney General’s office say this is a bad deal as well.
